On the afternoon of 25th May, 2023, thirty students of Grade 10 visited Anqing Meteorological Bureau under the guidance of group leader Jiang Zhengying of the geography teaching and research group and teachers Liu Kaiyuan and Gan Yuxin of the Senior High School Division. Under the detailed explanation of the professional staff, the students not only learned a lot of knowledge and skills about meteorology, and meticulously made notes, but also actively seized the opportunity to put forward some puzzles, which the staff of the weather bureau answered carefully.
To be specific, the Bureau of Meteorology is a very important organization responsible for detecting and forecasting weather and providing meteorological services to protect public life and property.
Through this activity, the students understood how meteorologists collected and analyzed meteorological data and turned it into meaningful weather forecasts. Additionally, they also learned about various instruments and technologies, such as weather satellites, radar and automatic weather stations, and how to use these instruments to obtain meteorological data. Furthermore, students learned how the weather affects people, why some areas are prone to severe weather, and how to deal with these risks.
On the other hand, students learned about areas related to meteorology, such as climate change, air pollution, air quality and environmental protection, which are very important topics, considering we need to know and protect our environment and life. To sum up, through this activity, students expanded their knowledge, cultivated their interest in science and nature, and improved their understanding of environmental protection and climate change. Meanwhile, the students greatly enhanced their interest in geography and gained a lot.
